The person behind FastBMI
I’m Oihan Mora, the founder and editor of FastBMI. I created this site because I wanted a fast, honest, ad-free-feeling resource where anyone could check their BMI, understand what the result actually means, and find reliable, evidence-based context — without wading through medical jargon or sensationalist health claims.
I’m not a medical professional. What I am is someone who has spent years frustrated by health websites that either hide behind walls of caveats or, worse, make bold promises about weight and body image that no reputable organization backs. FastBMI is my answer to that: transparent, tool-first, grounded in WHO and CDC guidelines, and honest about the limits of any single metric.
The original motivation was simple: I wanted a BMI calculator that worked instantly on mobile, showed me not just a number but a healthy weight range and some context, and didn’t require me to sign up for anything. That tool grew into a broader platform covering calorie needs, body fat estimation, ideal weight ranges, and educational articles on how to interpret all of these numbers.
Every calculator on the site uses published, peer-reviewed formulas (Mifflin-St Jeor for BMR, WHO categories for BMI, etc.) and is explicit about which formula it uses and why. I believe in showing the math.
If you spot an error in a calculator, find a broken link, have a content suggestion, or want to discuss a correction to any health information on this site, I’d genuinely love to hear from you. I read every message personally.
